Successful Cancellation of Telecommunication Data Order

Our firm recently handled a novel matter, where a District Court granted the police an order to access telecommunication data, including location data, held by service providers in Cyprus.

The matter is a controversial one, as the law based on which the order was sought, was ruled as unconstitutional in 2021. However, the police sought to rely on a different law, which effectively led to the same result.

The case was settled in favour of our client recently, with the order itself quashed successfully and the subsequent data gained and accessed by the police, effectively being cancelled.

The case was handled by Dimitris Lochias*, managing director of our firm.
