Removal From Interpol Red Notice

Removal from the INTERPOL Red Notice database, can of course be pursued directly through INTERPOL. Additionally however, one may be able to achieve their removal from the database if they are able to successfully challenge any national arrest warrant issued against them.

One such case was Civil Application 123/2019, where the Supreme Court of Cyprus proceeded to cancel the national arrest warrant issued against our clients, as it was deemed that the court of first instance had acted as a "rubber stamp" in issuing the warrant. The police application, which consisted of several pages and set out complicated allegations pertaining to financial crimes, was submitted to the lower court with the warrant being issued at the same exact time based on the court records.

This was a strong indication that the lower court did not examine the application to the required degree and the Supreme Court set aside the warrant in question.

Following the cancellation of the national warrant, the individual's information was subsequently removed from the INTERPOL Red Notice database.

The case was handled by Evangelos Pourgourides and the judgement can be found here.
